Our mission is to co-create economic incentives with small-scale fishing communities to collaboratively mitigate protected marine species bycatch. Sea Turtle Mindfulness Expeditions are a way we found to generate funding for research while eco-travelers can participate in a unique experience with local marine ecologists and conservation-driven fishing communities. We incorporate mindful travel principals and mindful eating for the ocean as a means to bring different cultures together with the healing power of the ocean. The expeditions with responsible seafood meals serve a means to recycle funding back into restoring and protecting marine habitats, creating balance between marine protection, coastal resilience, and sustainable economic opportunities for the next generation coastal communities.
