change:WATER Labs (cWL) is a woman-led social venture founded in 2015. Our 7-person team combines 30yrs of experience in sewage treatment, wastewater management, water systems engineering, cleantech innovation, hardware and military equipment development, venture finance, business strategy and international development. Our founders are 3 serial entrepreneur who have started 7 companies and achieved 3 exits. Dr. Diana Yousef, PhD, MBA (Founder, CEO) evolved her concept of evaporative sanitation inspired by work she’d done for NASA on water-treatment systems for the Space Station. She has 15+ yrs experience commercializing scientific & technology innovations for social impact. Prior to cWL, Diana was a serial cleantech & social entrepreneur, venture investor, scientist & had worked at McKinsey, UNDP & the WorldBank/IFC. She is a former biochemist (BA, Harvard; PhD, Cornell), & holds an MBA & MA in International Development (Columbia). Huda Elasaad, MS, MS (co-Founder) joined cWL in 2015 from MIT’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, bringing over a decade of experience designing & engineering municipal scale sewage treatment and clean water systems in MENA & Central America. Paul Martin (co-founder) has 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, launch and exit of venture-backed tech firms, and urban planning (focusing on sanitation in India). His roles have included international partnership building as well as traditional marketing. He holds an AB in Political Science (Harvard) and MA Urban Planning/International Development (MIT). Michael Martin (CTO) has >35yrs experience leading global engineering at Xerox, successfully launching products from concept through development to commercialization. He holds an SDM from MIT.
