The co-founders are childhood friends with different but complementary academic and professional backgrounds.Many years in the seafood industry led us to think about how to solve one of the most tricky problems in the business: Seafood waste management and value-adding.The Main Idea was to collect & recycle seafood waste to bring an environmental impact and added value for the processing companies and the whole business.After years of research and development, we came up with a more efficient and impactful solution: Up-cycling these by-products into much higher value-added products in a circular economy system with a very low CO2 footprint and environmental impact.To do so, we transform seafood waste into valuable ingredients, by extracting Chitin & Chitosan, calcium, amino acids and using effluents as organic fertilizers.CHITELIX started with lab scale testing in 2022 and had significant results that led to a pilot scale unit with advanced technology guaranteeing efficiency and the best environmental and social impact. CHITELIX got then the STARTUP ACT label in TUNISIA.
