Biodiversity
Justdiggit is a foundation with the goal to restore degraded ecosystems by developing and initiating large-scale landscape restoration programs within Africa. Degraded landscapes are restored by combining traditional techniques with new technology and a strong communication approach. Our regreening projects help to restore the water balance, increase soil fertility and bring back vegetation, which has a positive effect on the local and regional climate, increases water and food security and promotes biodiversity within the project areas. Within our projects we work together with local partners and communities. The communities involved directly benefit from our programs as we create a better living environment and increase economic development. With our programs in Africa, we aim to improve local living conditions while simultaneously reducing global carbon levels. Given the urgency to reverse climate change, the UN General Assembly declared this decade, the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021 – 2030). As a proud partner of the Decade, Justdiggit has committed to speed up and scale up regreening by combining al previous knowledge and experience. We believe this is possible, by disrupting the current system using communication and mobile technology. Alongside the traditional regreening programs we want to directly activate millions of farmers and bringing back millions of trees with a new mobile regreening platform. Currently, we are developing this platform with support of many technical and communication partners and it will be launched in July 2024 in Tanzania. As an African – European organisation, we have offices, in Nairobi (Kenya), Arusha (Tanzania) and in Amsterdam (Netherlands).
