The Mozaic platform democratises access to accurate, ground-level nature data (e.g. habitat conditions, plant diversity) by leveraging the sensors in everyone's pockets – smartphones. It empowers people on the ground to capture precise, geolocated visual recordings from which it extracts key insights using the latest computer vision technologies and artificial intelligence (AI). Combining large-scale, smartphone-based monitoring and AI allows its customers (businesses, landowners, local planning authorities) to monitor their impact and dependencies on biodiversity while addressing the global shortage of ecologists. To incentivise these “Nature Guardians” Mozaic is developing a gamification layer and a micro-payment capability to financially reward contributions from local community members.
