About

We have ten years’ experience supporting economic empowerment in coastal communities. Our work in Indonesia’s West Papua Province aims to create the social and political infrastructure for locally controlled Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) to work, and to improve the lives of Raja Ampat’s people. We deploy a blend of grant and our own capital to build sustainable community enterprises with clear social and environmental benefit. We do so on a not-for-profit basis, recovering costs only to the extent that community business are able to generate sufficient surplus, and for reinvestment in other community projects. Our approach builds leadership, organisational and enterprise capacity in partner communities, where all three are needed to build businesses that remain accountable to the communities they serves, are self-sufficient and can sustain themselves over the longer term.
