SharkSafe Barrier Pty prevents shark accidents on surfers and swimmers, by keeping sharks physically separated from beach goers. We developed a novel, ecofriendly technology based on the knowledge that large sharks avoid entering dense kelp forest, and that their swimming behaviour can be altered, at close range, by magnetic fields. SharkSafe BarrierTM is an effective shark-specific barrier of anchored vertically buoyant Units (mimicking kelp stalks) that contain strong ceramic magnets. The SSB was scientifically tested and developed for 12 years and proved to effectively prevent white sharks and bull sharks from entering an enclosed area, even when bait was used to attract the sharks through the Units. The company is composed of passionate marine biologists, coastal engineers, business and financial experts, all sharing the same passion for preserving marine life for future generations. The Company's first commercial installation was in The Bahamas, in August 2023.
