About

SoilWatch is on a mission to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals where they are needed most, and sees the carbon markets as a tool to do it. Whether it be forestry, pastoralism or farming, SoilWatch uses the state of the art of current scientific understanding to monitor ecosystems and provide trusted, transparent and scientifically rigorous monitoring, reporting and verification of CO2 removal, and project development support. Our team has worked on emergency humanitarian agriculture projects in communities on the frontlines of the climate emergency and facing desertification, drought, flooding and crisis levels of food insecurity. We have witnessed humanitarian, development and climate adaptation funding collapse when it is needed most. At the same time, demand for value-added carbon removal credits with real socio-economic benefits has increased.Advances in Earth Observation, modeling and machine learning mean that for the first time the most vulnerable communities can access climate funding from the carbon markets to carry out the type of projects that not only store carbon in the soil, but also combat desertification and food insecurity. SoilWatch enables this by using open data and the most robust methodologies, ensuring confidence through transparency.
