The formula for the animal feed is unique and innovative and was developed by a group of scientists led by Prof. Mohamed Baba (Université Clermont Auvergne). Pilot research is currently being conducted in collaboration with the Institut Supérieur d’Enseignement Technologique (ISET) in Rosso, Mauritania.The innovation consists of turning an invasive species into a valuable resource, increasing the value of sustainably wild harvested non-timber forest products which are still under-valorized (Balanites), linking it with landscape restoration activities and by recycling by-products of the food industry (rice bran).Innovative for Mauritania is also the creation of women cooperatives for marginalized and poor women, especially Haratin, with direct access to market, thus offering a long-term perspective and the opportunity to become a role model for innovative agricultural supply and value chains that work in harmony with nature.
