YhuLife works with indigenous-led community enterprises to cultivate Amazonian vanilla plants into agroforestry systems and sell them to international markets to help increase income in rural Ecuador. The Amazonian vanilla grows around endemic trees in a symbiotic relationship, thereby incentivizing the protection of local trees as well as traditional indigenous agroforestry systems. In addition, it also supports the protection of the critically endangered melipona bee — the only bee that can pollinate vanilla orchids.
